Pickup Tubes

The pickup is the tube through which your oil pump sucks up oil from the bottom of the oil pan. There’s a screen over the intake end of your pickup to keep debris out of your pump. Over time, varnish can build up on this screen, restricting flow rate. Left unchecked, the varnish can break off and get into the pump, so clean or replace the screen regularly.
